Dylan claims that he wrote this song in about 10 minutes one afternoon. He put words to the melody of an old slave song called "No More Auction Block," which he might have learned from Carter family records. In the evening, Dylan took the song to the nightclub Gerde's Folk City in Greenwich Village, where he was due to play a set. Before playing it, he announced, "This here ain't no protest song or anything like that, 'cause I don't write no protest songs."

人民网北京10月13日电 （记者陈苑）2016年诺贝尔文学奖揭晓，授予美国作家兼歌手鲍勃·迪伦，以表彰他“在伟大的美国歌曲传统中创造了新的诗歌表达”。这是诺贝尔文学奖有史以来第一次颁给音乐人。

20世纪美国最重要、最有影响力的民谣歌手

鲍勃·迪伦（Bob Dylan，1941年5月24日－），原名罗伯特·艾伦·齐默曼（Robert Allen Zimmerman）。他是一位重要的行吟歌者，被认为是20世纪美国最重要、最有影响力的民谣歌手。

鲍勃在高中的时候就组建了自己的乐队。1959年高中毕业后，就读于明尼苏达大学。在读大学期间，对民谣产生兴趣，开始在学校附近的民谣圈子演出，并首度以鲍勃·迪伦作艺名。1961年签约哥伦比亚唱片公司。1962年推出处女专辑名为《鲍勃·迪伦》。 1963年起，琼·贝兹邀请迪伦与她一起巡回演出。

他曾多次获得格莱美奖，2000年为电影《奇迹小子》创作的歌曲《Things have changed》获奥斯卡最佳原创歌曲奖。鲍勃·迪伦被《时代》杂志选入20世纪最有影响力的100人名单，他影响的音乐人中有尼尔·杨、大卫·鲍依、娄·里得、布鲁斯·斯普林斯丁、约翰·列侬等等。鲍勃·迪伦不仅改变了摇滚乐的历史，也影响了无数音乐领域之外的人。

从上世纪60年代中期，一些主流评论开始推崇迪伦文学方面的造诣，有批评家称他为现代美国继卡尔·桑德堡、罗伯特·弗罗斯特之后最伟大的诗人；1976年美国总统卡特在竞选活动中引用迪伦的诗句并称其为“伟大的美国诗人”；1990年，法兰西文学院向迪伦颁发“文学艺术杰出成就奖”。外界的各种褒奖没有使迪伦沦陷，他对自己的评价调侃而中肯：“无论我到哪里，我都是一个60年代的游吟诗人，一个摇滚民谣的遗迹，一个从逝去时代过来的词语匠人，一个从无人知晓的地方来的虚构的国家首脑。我处在被文化遗忘的无底深渊之中。”

年过七旬中国开唱引发全场感动

2011年，年逾七旬的鲍勃·迪伦在北京举办演唱会，这是他首次踏上中国的土地。

中国音乐人何勇、郑钧纷纷前往追星。郑钧更是连发几条微博表达自己的激动心情。“这是我最近看到最感动的一场演出，你预期看到一尊活化石，但你看到了一位充满力量的战士，没有华丽的舞台灯光，只有真诚的歌者本人，音乐本人，时光本人，沧桑本人。”“鲍勃大人的演唱会我坐在外场最普通的观众席，除了他的心以外我没有看到或听到别的，但那就够了！他让我重新审视自己的生活方向。”

今天，诺奖公布后，歌手李健也第一时间发表微博：“真高兴，各路优秀的艺术家们终会在人文的路上相遇！”

腾讯文化讯（文/吴永熹）2016诺贝尔文学奖颁给了美国音乐人鲍勃·迪伦，让人大跌眼镜。瑞典学院的选择是否公允？人们对此莫衷一是，有支持者，有不解者，有抗议者。不少人认为瑞典学院这次“玩大了”。

瑞典学院将诺奖“跨界”颁给迪伦，传递了怎样的信号？颁奖给迪伦的决定是否容易做出？在诺贝尔文学奖委员会看来，迪伦的作品具有怎样的文学性？针对这些问题，腾讯文化邮件采访了诺奖评委霍拉斯·恩格道尔（HoraceEngdahl），请他为这届诺奖评选解密。

恩格道尔曾任瑞典学院常任秘书10年之久，因劳累过度，他于2009年请辞该职，但他仍是诺贝尔文学奖委员会的5位核心小组成员之一。在诺贝尔文学奖的评选过程中，他的阅读趣味与选择至关重要。在恩格道尔看来，鲍勃·迪伦创造了当今最伟大的一些诗歌。

腾讯文化：把今年的诺贝尔文学奖颁给鲍勃·迪伦，是一个容易做的决定吗？

恩格道尔：既容易，又困难。说容易，是因为瑞典学院的绝大多数成员都是支持这个决定的。说困难，是因为诺贝尔文学奖的每一次评选，都意味着要对候选人做全面彻底的研究，这个准备过程要持续好几年。在这个决定中，没有任何随机的成分。

腾讯文化：今年的评奖结果引来了不少争议。许多人质疑鲍勃·迪伦是否配得上得诺贝尔文学奖，歌词是否应该被看作文学，鲍勃·迪伦的歌词是否达到了伟大诗歌的标准。对此你怎么看？

恩格道尔：不管瑞典学院做出什么选择，几乎永远都会引来争议。在我服务于诺贝尔文学奖委员会的19年，几乎每年的结果都会引发争论，或者更糟糕的是，还会引来关于评奖结果的政治和美学性质的质疑。这种纷争是诺奖活力的一部分。
很显然，既然我们把奖颁给了鲍勃·迪伦，就说明我们认为歌词应该被看作文学的一部分，我们相信鲍勃·迪伦的歌词体现了最高水准的诗性表达。

腾讯文化：现任瑞典学院常任秘书长莎拉·丹纽尔将鲍勃·迪伦的歌曲与荷马、萨福的作品相比，这种观点是瑞典学院其他成员普遍认同的吗？

恩格道尔：这是我们讨论的许多层面当中的一个——鲍勃·迪伦的艺术与古老诗歌之间的相似性。和鲍勃·迪伦的歌曲一样，这些古老的诗歌也是被歌唱或吟咏的。我个人在此还会提到奥维德，特别是他被流放后写下的作品，它们和迪伦后期的作品有相似性。

拓宽对文学的定义，是诺贝尔文学奖委员会已经讨论了一段时间的话题——不仅扩展诗歌的概念，将音乐诗歌包括进来，同时，“文学”应该将非虚构作品囊括进来，只要这些作品在形式和创作上带有文学品质。

腾讯文化：在鲍勃·迪伦获奖前，美国已经有23年没有人获得诺贝尔文学奖了。你曾批评美国作家“太孤立、太狭隘”，这一评价在美国文学圈引来了很多不满，许多人认为这一评价过于“欧洲中心主义”。今年将诺奖授予迪伦是对美国文学传统的一种承认吗，也许是广义的美国文学传统？

恩格道尔：我的批评主要是针对美国的文学体系，而不是美国作家。我的出发点是，我认为在美国的批评家、出版商——更可惜的是——在美国读者的意识中，外国文学，尤其是非英语文学，是极为边缘化的。
给鲍勃·迪伦这个奖，至少应该说明瑞典学院不是反美的。而且当我们通过鲍勃·迪伦来承认美国歌曲写作的主导地位时，我们采取了一种更宽泛的视角。

This became an anthem for frustrated youth. It summed up the anti-establishment feelings of people who would later be known as hippies. Many of the lyrics are based on the Civil Rights movement in the US.

In the liner notes of this album Biograph, Dylan wrote: "I wanted to write a big song, some kind of theme song, with short, concise verses that piled up on each other in a hypnotic way. This is definitely a song with a purpose. I knew exactly what I wanted to say and who I wanted to say it to."

1984年1月24日，首台Macintosh的发布会上，乔布斯引用Bob Dylan的著名歌曲The times they are a changin'作为开场白，以划时代的歌曲介绍划时代的产品。

1985年5月，乔布斯的合作伙伴及知己约翰•斯卡利(John Sculley)无法再忍受乔布斯的管理风格，最终导致乔布斯被迫离开苹果公司。多年后乔布斯回忆起这桩心酸事，他说：“It gets back to the deep feeling of being rejected at an early age. …I felt like I’d been punched, the air knocked out of me and I couldn’t breathe.”

那一段离开苹果公司的日子，乔布斯闭关在家足不出户，不断反复聆听Bob Dylan的歌，尤其是这一首歌……

One of scientists’ favorite singer-songwriters has just won the Nobel Prize in Literature. Bob Dylan, whose lyrics have been quoted, paraphrased, or cited in hundreds of papers and letters in the biomedical research literature alone, was awarded the prize today for “having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition.”

Even for researchers born decades after the 75-year-old musician, Dylan’s lines seem to stay forever young. A 2015 analysis published in The BMJ found 727 potential references to Dylan songs in a search of the Medline biomedical journals database; the authors ultimately concluded that 213 of the references could be “classified as unequivocally citing Dylan.” The earliest article the authors identified appeared in 1970 in The Journal of Practical Nursing. The title “The Times They Are a-Changin’”—a line the study found to be the single most commonly used Dylan lyric, appearing in dozens of article titles.

In 2014, a group of scientists at Sweden’s Karolinska Institute in Stockholm revealed that they had been competing for nearly 2 decades to see who could sneak the most Dylan lyrics into their papers. Two of the researchers, Jon Lundberg and Eddie Weitzberg, said the contest originated with a 1997 paper they published in Nature Medicine entitled “Nitric Oxide and Inflammation: The answer is blowing in the wind.”

The scientists say they didn’t think twice about riffing on Dylan’s song, which became a megahit in 1963 for Peter, Paul and Mary. “We both really like Bob Dylan so when we set about writing an article concerning the measurement of nitric oxide gas in both the respiratory tracts and the intestine … the title came up and it fitted there perfectly,” Weitzberg said in a Karolinska press release.

Weitzberg even argued that Dylan’s work was so good that it deserved the Nobel Prize in Literature. His wish was answered today.
