Malaysian Qualification Framework
A framework that unites all qualifications (academic, professional, vocational & technical, work-based, industry related skills) awarded by approved and certified institutions which becomes the reference point for information, quality assurance and recognition of qualifications

The elements of a qualification include:-
1). the level (eg Certificate, Diploma, Bachelor) which is linked to learning outcomes.
2). the broad discipline or field.
3). the credits/total student study load to achieve a specified set of learning outcomes.
4). the nature or purpose of the qualification.
Qualification descriptors:
Learning outcomes – differentiates qualifications by competencies at 8 levels of abilities
Field – differentiates qualifications by nature of content of study (subject related knowledge)
Credits – differentiates qualifications by the minimum workload expected of students to completes a set of learning outcomes.
Nature – differentiates qualifications at the same level by purpose

内阁于2005年12月21日做了以下决定:
1)Implement the MQF as the platform for QA in higher education & the reference point for criteria & standards of programmes & qualifications
2)Merge LAN + QAD Public universities + QAD Polytechnics & Community Colleges Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) – United QA System in HE
3)Review & amend where necessary, the LAN Act & other related Acts, policies and regulations to support the establishment of the MQA and implementation of MQF; and
4)Retain the role of professional & other statutory certification bodies in the accreditation of programmes for the purpose of licensing or registration of practitioners
